There is a false stereotype that dogs and mail carriers are sworn foes. However, the truth is quite the reverse. Numerous tales of dogs and various mail carriers becoming close companions are frequently told.
Katie Newhouser, a UPS driver in the Rancho Cucamonga region of Southern California, is one such courier. After Katie frequently made deliveries to his apartment, she and Leo the Pit Bull became friends. He would frequently approach her and say hi, even jumping into her van to do so.

Due to their endearing relationship, Katie posted a few pictures of Leo to the UPS Dogs Facebook page along with the caption, “This is Leo.” He would always begin to bark as I approached the apartment building, and as soon as I stopped, he would always climb inside. Having lost his owner, he is now living with me.

It comes out that their relationship was tested the previous year when Katie returned from vacation to learn that Leo’s owner had passed away. Leo’s uncertain future devastated Katie, so she initially asked her son if he could take Leo. Because he is a Marine, Katie’s son was unable to care for Leo. When Katie brought Leo home and realized how nicely he fit in with her family of other dogs, she decided that Leo would be her foster failure. Katie then offered to permanently adopt Leo.

It was undoubtedly confusing for him at first, but he has adjusted nicely, as Katie told the Pup Journal. He is inseparable from his brother Moose. They now play together despite Bailey, his sister, taking some time to warm up. Once Leo entered the home, the atmosphere completely shifted.

Naturally, there was a brief time of adjustment. Leo was a little bit sad when Katie first brought him to his new house and he would complain, but he soon grew to appreciate it and the people in it. He has so much personality, you’d think he’s human, as Katie put it. You will never meet a more lovable or sweeter dog than him.
We’re overjoyed that Leo is now residing with someone who genuinely cares about him.
