Dexter, a Britney Spaniel, has a huge fan base because of his incredible fortitude! His two front limbs were injured in a freak accident just six years ago, but since then, he has triumphed in life and developed extraordinary skills.
In 2015, Dexter was adopted by a family who delightedly took the cute dog into their house. Something unimaginable transpired that nearly took him away just as he was starting to become the part of their family of which they had always dreamed.
Dexter rushed toward the street in search of an intriguing smell but ended up escaping from the home yard. He was so mesmerized by the aroma that he raced onto the road next to a moving van only to be instantly run over by the big truck.
It was evident that Dexter was seriously hurt as soon as the car struck him. To save him, one of his front legs had to be amputated, so his parents hurried him to the closest animal hospital for intensive care. His parents questioned whether he would ever lead a normal life again after having to have his second front leg immobilized at the elbow.
Dexter had a difficult healing process, but he persisted because he was driven to achieve. He was always upbeat, then one day he did something that surprised everyone. Dexter was once left in the front yard by his mother when she went inside to make coffee. Dexter had climbed the outdoor stairs by himself when she returned, but she wasn’t sure how he managed it. She then brought him back into the yard while pressing the record button to see what would happen next.
Dexter eventually stood up straight on his back legs and started to ascend the stairs by himself. His mother was frightened that he might injure himself because she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She had no idea that Dexter would soon consider this routine.

Six years have passed since Dexter’s fatal accident, and he has completely learned the art of walking. Dexter now has hundreds of thousands of adoring admirers on Instagram and TikTok and is a canine celebrity!
Although Dexter is now well-known worldwide, his hometown of Ouray is where he is most beloved. Numerous people stop during his daily walks for the chance to interact with the gifted dog, making them more like parades.
Dexter now occasionally attends Ouray events, where he is always met with a queue of eager fans. Dexter has accomplished so much, and we are very proud of him. We have no doubt he will continue to inspire so many others in the future.
