Whenever we bring a new toy home, it’s generally the dogs who are enthusiastic and interested in the novelty. That wasn’t the situation, though, with one Golden Retriever puppy. When his owners gave him a new friend, a robotic golden retriever miniature, this cute little dog was less than thrilled. The sensory-activated toy would move and bark just like a real dog. The owners believed it to be cool and something their dog would like, but they were greatly incorrect.
The puppy enters the room to inspect the new toy in the video that was taken of the puppy’s funny response to the item. He initially approaches the toy with curiosity and maybe a little hesitancy. Hear his owner say, “Who’s a good dog? Who’s a good puppy? The puppy then gives the toy a little nudge with his nose before hopping. He then jabs it with his paw out of curiosity, but he’s too far away to make touch with it. However, he feels quite energized and more self-assured now, so he gives the paw thing another shot.
It also appears that the cute doggie wasn’t impressed by the synthetic dog. He even starts to feel a little jealous. Throughout their interaction, his owner was petting him; nevertheless, when she stopped, she touched the toy dog and said, “Nice puppy!” This has undoubtedly bewildered the little golden retriever, who is also a touch envious because he doesn’t want to be replaced by the robotic toy. He has had enough and decided to protest, so he starts to pack up the toy.
The toy merely remains there, thus it doesn’t seem to be working. The owner of the dog then said, “Who’s a good dog?” The small dog continued to growl at the toy before settling into his owner’s lap and making sure to let everyone know he is in charge.
