Dogs have a strong sense of the present, which may be why they seem to be able to get through any significant challenges they encounter. And despite being confined to a wheelchair and fighting cancer, one golden retriever simply couldn’t resist the impulse to get into the water. Even though the dog, appropriately named Lion, was fighting cancer and was therefore confined to a wheelchair, he showed no signs of fear when he charged toward the water.
The 11-year-old pup with a lion’s heart resides in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, where his family runs a bed and breakfast. He has a playmate named Taiia, another canine. On a bright day in January, Lion was seen doing something daring.
The two dogs, Lion and Taiia, each have their own Instagram account, @goldentaiia, where their family frequently posts images and videos of the two. Since Lion was seen in this specific video doing something that encourages us all to simply be present at the moment, folks couldn’t help but smile.
In the backyard, Taiia was swimming in the family’s pool. Despite being confined to a wheelchair and fighting cancer, Lion persisted in joining in on the fun. When Monica, a family member, attempted to stop Lion, the camera caught him charging straight into the pool. But he went for it because he was determined. In the end, he even brought a chair beside the pool because it was obvious that nothing and no one was going to get in his way.
Knowing that grabbing the chair was the least she could do for this tenacious dog, Monica entered the room. It turned out that the Lion was still a superb swimmer despite requiring a wheelchair, which made it an endearing sight to witness for everyone involved. Once in the water, he even succeeded in dislodging himself from his wheelchair so that he could effortlessly swim alongside Taiia.
The dogs’ Instagram followers fell in love with the video as soon as it was posted, and it rapidly went viral. It generated thousands of comments in addition to many likes. Even though Lion may not have recognized it, he taught the world a crucial lesson: no matter what difficulties you may be experiencing, you can always take a moment to relax and take in your surroundings.
