In the video that was taken by Elise Frebourg, you can see the seal, to which the villagers have given the name “You,” making its way over to the Labrador that is laying down on the sand. The beautiful scenery continues with the seal lovingly petting the dog with its paw and then cuddling up to the Labrador.
The film that was shot in Le Cap Ferret, which is situated in the southwesternmost part of France, has already attracted more than 2 million viewers since it was published. It is not the first time that ‘You’ has been the topic of media attention owing to his brash behavior in front of the cameras; this is not the first time that this has happened. Bertrand Chaussade shot the video using a camera that was attached to his surfboard to capture the moment. After approaching Bertrand and getting relatively close to him, the video shows the seal swimming back and forth across the board.
We reported that he had spent the whole morning having fun with us. He would then shove me off the board after he had gotten on it, demanded that I give him strokes, and then get on it himself. It was quite active and friendly, almost like a small dog, and it gave me the impression that I was playing with one of them. In a subsequent post that he made on the internet, Mr. Chaussade referred to the event as “a beautiful encounter and a magical moment.”
