Pickles, a 2-year-old pit bull, was discovered wandering the streets alone in early September. Because she was pregnant, she was unable to care for herself and required emergency assistance. Animal control authorities rescued her right away and called her owners to return her home. Unfortunately, her irresponsible owner no longer wanted her and discarded her at the shelter.
Mama Pickles need more specialized assistance than the shelter could provide because of her pregnancy. As a result, she was sent to Pits & Giggles Rescue, a shelter that specialized in caring for pregnant and nursing mama dogs, as well as their babies. Pickles was overjoyed to meet her new rescue pals at the shelter. Her large belly made it difficult for her to move around, but it didn’t stop her from jumping all over them for attention and kisses.
Lauren Casteen Sykes, a volunteer with Pits & Giggles Rescue, described her as a “pit bull in a China shop.” “Mama Pickles is all tail wags and smooshy kisses, and she must always be underfoot and in your space!” She’s a velcro pitty,’ and she’s got a smidgeon of mischief in her eyes.”
To help the dogs and pups at Pits & Giggles Rescue find forever homes, Sykes, the owner of Enchanted Hills Photography, and volunteers shot photos of them to promote on social media in the hopes that someone would adore them and adopt them. And everyone knew straight immediately when they saw Pickles for the first time that she was the greatest candidate for a pregnancy photo session.
Sykes described it as “hilarious.” “She’s all belly and a little clumsy, so getting her positioned wasn’t a problem, but getting her to sit still long enough for a photo was a challenge!” We couldn’t help but giggle because her bows were uneven, falling off and tripping her up – she’s such a cartoon!”
Mama Pickles gave birth to eight puppies not long after. They’re all beautiful little girls, just like their mother. They’re healthy and happy, and a lot of people are rooting for them on the internet.
As a result, Sykes and the rest of the rescue team agreed to undertake a newborn picture shoot as a follow-up to the previous one. And this time, the outcomes were far superior to anyone’s expectations. Mama Pickles enjoyed posing with her precious puppies, and Sykes was able to take some stunning, adorable photographs of the proud mama and her offspring.
Pickles is now an excellent mother, always ensuring that her children are secure and well-cared for. When they are ready to be adopted, the shelter will review adoption applications to locate them the best homes possible.
