In the scorching heat, a woman driving alone on a deserted stretch of the road came upon many dogs that were chained to a pole, each one on a chain that was two feet long. She reasoned that the dogs’ owner must be nearby because the dogs’ expressions suggested that they were sad. It finally dawned on her that the dogs might have been abandoned later on that night, which was the primary reason why she was unable to get any rest for the balance of that night.
The next day, she went back to the location of the incident and found that her concerns had been justified all along. The fact that the dogs were still chained up in the heat of the day suggested that they were both hungry and thirsty. The woman who found them and brought them to safety by placing them in the back of her car stated that they appeared to be on the edge of passing away. She burst into tears as she thought about how awful it was that this poor puppy was living on the street.
