Two Hard-Working Dachshunds Help Free The Evergreen Ship That Was Stuck In The Canal

Posted on June 14, 2022 by TrueNews

A massive container ship called the Ever Given that was 400 meters long (1,300 feet) was trapped in the Suez Canal in Egypt for six days. The Suez Canal is one of the most important maritime lanes in the world. During the sandstorm, the vessel, which is owned and maintained by Evergreen Marine Corp., became diagonally wedged across the river, which resulted in an increase in traffic and forced other ships to choose a different path. Thanks to a plan that included tug boats and dredging, the ship was ultimately liberated. The ship, however, may still be trapped if Crusoe and Oakley, two little dachshunds, hadn’t arrived on the scene.

The Dachshund breed is known for its bravery and tenacity, but Crusoe and Oakley took those traits to an even greater extreme. A video was taken of the two puppies desperately digging in the sand with their small paws as they attempted to “release” Ever Given from their grasp. Even pup-sized hard helmets and safety jackets were worn by the workers. When the ship was eventually able to free itself from the ice and resume its journey to the north, their work was finally done.

According to Crusoe’s owner, “the media doesn’t like to give us credit, but it was truly two hardworking tiny wiener dogs who cleared the Suez Canal and released the Evergreen cargo ship to continue on its voyage.  “Thank goodness those puppies got the rewards they deserved for all of their hard work digging and excavating! Good job, puppies!”
