Some things are simply part of animal nature: lions will hunt, and birds will fly. What about golden retrievers? You know they’re going to get it. That leads us to today’s Violet TikTok, which comes from user @thicccboysonly. She’s a fantastic golden retriever who possesses the two most significant golden retriever characteristics: She is going to Bring You Stuff because she adores everything.
Violet is collecting a very confused young goose, which she holds in her mouth while she paddles her way back to her skeptical human via a pond. “Are you serious right now, Violet?” As the very wet, very sweet-faced Violet makes it apparent that yes, she is very much for real right now and has a baby goose to prove it, asks the person behind the camera.
Violet reaches the pond’s edge and sets her huge paws on the concrete edge as her owner tells her to “drop the duck.” Violet kindly obliges, giving the baby a good nose boop on the head for good measure, all as a (probably) parent geese honks in the distance. Violet returns to the pond, satisfied with a job well done, and swims away as the video closes.

Violet’s lovely video of her being the greatest dog she can be has received over 650,000 likes and nearly 4,000 comments on TikTok, with the majority of them complimenting Violet on her good retrieving skills and soft mouth. Golden retrievers were bred expressly to bring game—particularly waterfowl—back to their owners, and that “soft mouth” technique is vital since it ensures that the dog’s teeth don’t harm valuable pelts or feathers.
But don’t worry geese fans! The young goose is unharmed, if befuddled, as Violet’s mother demonstrates in a follow-up video: Violet returns to dry land and approaches the baby from behind the camera, only to be rebuffed by her human with a “back up, huh-uh.”
Violet, I apologize. I suppose you can’t be friends with every baby animal.
