When Betty Walter received a text message from a friend about a dog injured by a car, she told the friend who to contact to get the dog the assistance she needed. Walter had rescued and fostered dogs before, but she was at work at the time and knew she didn’t have room for any more. However, she couldn’t stop thinking about the puppy throughout the day, and when her shift ended, she drove out to see whether she’d been saved yet.

When Walter came, she saw that the dog, as well as another dog, were still guarding her. Betty White and Allen, the dogs, had discovered a grassy location away from the road where Betty could relax. Allen was well aware that she was hurt, which is why he refused to leave her side. He sat there guarding her, frightening anyone who came too close. He cared for her and want for her to be fine.
“There were a couple of dogs in the distance as I pulled up, and he chased them away,” Walter told The Dodo. “He ran toward me when I got out of my car to look at her… I had to reassure him that I was there to assist him.”

Walter spent time attempting to gain Allen’s trust so that he would allow her to assist Betty. After a bit, her texting friend arrived to assist her in loading Betty into the car. Allen stood nearby the entire time, making sure Betty was okay. Walter and her buddy were able to catch Allen once she was in the car. He made it apparent that he wished to accompany her. They had to be rescued together if they were to survive.
Walter knew she had to make room for the dog’s best friends as soon as she witnessed their sweet bond and took them home to foster them. She was concerned that if she didn’t, she wouldn’t be able to find someone else to take them, and they would be separated. “It’s difficult to locate foster homes for large dogs here in Houston,” Walter added.

Betty needed surgery to repair a shattered pelvis. She returned home to her new foster family to recuperate and be with Allen after the procedure. As the weeks passed, it became evident to Walter just how close Betty and Allen are. Allen wouldn’t leave her side after she was hurt since they love each other so deeply. He simply desired to be with her at all times.
Betty has to heal a little more before she can find her ultimate home. She requires heartworm medication and physical therapy, and Walter anticipates that she will be ready for adoption in a few months. Allen is theoretically ready at this point, but he’s not leaving Betty behind.

Betty and Allen just want to find a loving home where they can be together after everything they’ve been through, and Walter is determined to assist them. “They crave attention,” Walter explained. “They require someone who will lavish them with kisses and hugs.” To protect them and make them feel safe. Allen enjoys playing with toys, so he’ll need someone to throw the ball and chase with. Betty wishes to sleep in a bed at your feet.”
Betty and Allen are truly the sweetest best friends on the planet, and they’ll soon have the best house where they can spend their lives together in peace.
