The Northeast Animal Rescue organization got a complaint about a stray female dog that was observed walking about close to an overpass. People from the community would occasionally spot her standing by the side of the road in the hope that they would give her some food.

The people who came to her aid quickly understood that she was a breastfeeding mother when they found her. The rescue operation was expanded from saving a single dog to saving as many puppies as the owner had.
The mother dog had a high level of anxiety, but she was aware that there were people there to help, so she opted to guide the rescuers to her puppies. They pursued her till they found a culvert pipe with pups sheltering inside of it. When the mother was finally able to get help for her five young, she wiggled her tail with relief since she realized that for the first time in their lives, they were secure.

The mother went into the pipe, and the people who were trying to save her and her puppies thought she would bring them out on her own, but instead, she turned around and walked back toward them. Will, one of the people who came to the rescue, was the one who was able to crawl into the pipe and carefully grab all five of the puppies. There were three girls and two boys.

They carried the mother dog and her puppies back to the rescue organization, where they were fed and kept warm. They concluded that the mother dog should be given the name Sierra. The rescue organization hailed Sierra as a “responsible and competent mom.”
They chose the names Holly, Willow, Magnolia, Alder, and Parker for the new puppies. Because of Sierra, every one of her puppies is protected now.
