Some of us would avoid adopting a pet with behavioural issues if we had the option. Perhaps we have children who we want to ensure are safe around the animal, or perhaps we simply don’t want to deal with the stress and extra training that comes with owning an animal of this sort.
But one selfless woman from Colorado was up for the challenge, adopting a ‘destructive, and untrustworthy’ dog in the hopes that with patience and love, this challenging pup may change his ways.
She introduced her puppy to her boyfriend, who initially expressed displeasure with the animal, but then went on to do an act of kindness that exemplifies how deeds speak louder than words.
KaTarra Taylor’s Colorado Springs property was in desperate need of a renovation. She’d just moved into a townhouse with her rescue dog, and she knew he’d appreciate having his own yard to play in.
Bentley was not the easiest of dogs to look after. He had a slew of behavioural difficulties, many of which stemmed from a critical history, and KaTarra was still working with him to teach him, calm his anxieties, and break his hostility. She realised that giving Bentley a grassy place to play in would be really beneficial.
The backyard started out as a plain slab of concrete, but KaTarra’s generous boyfriend stepped in and transformed it into something special for her pet dog.
KaTarra’s boyfriend took it upon himself to give the backyard a makeover. He worked tirelessly to replace the concrete slabs with dog-friendly grass, and KaTarra graciously documented the entire process on the Dogspotting Society Facebook page. This is definitely going to give the dog a new life.
