Fortunately, there are still angels among us who work relentlessly to save animals. Joe Kirk, the owner of an animal rescue group, is one of these rescuers. After a shelter realised Gregory had a major but treatable health problem, Joe protected him from being euthanized.
Gregory is a 2-year-old beagle who was part of Columbus’ Franklin County Dog Shelter. Gregory appeared to be a healthy dog because he was playful and active, but the shelter workers soon discovered that he had heartworms.

Heartworms are dangerous parasites that infect dogs via mosquito bites. Despite this, they can be treated with the help of a veterinarian. If the dog is not treated, it will become sicker, resulting in organ damage, major disease. Gregory had a bad case, and the shelter had to make some difficult decisions.
Unfortunately, the shelter determined that euthanasia was Gregory’s best option, but luckily for Gregory, Joe Kirk discovered about the dog and chose to attempt to save his life. He drove to the shelter and introduced himself to Gregory. He then volunteered to take the puppy home with him and treat him.

It was love at first sight for Joe and Gregory. The two hit it off right away. Joe didn’t even bother to box Gregory, instead allowing him to ride in the backseat of his automobile. In an interview with Today, he said:
“It was like if we’d known each other for a long time.” Gregory was overjoyed to be rescued, and as they were stopped at a light on their way home, Joe snapped some photos of the cute dog to show his wife. Joe had the adorable beagle snuggling up to him, his head on one shoulder and a paw resting on his arm in another.

These photos of the grateful dog have captivated the internet’s attention. The dog was clearly aware that he was being helped and was quite appreciative to his new buddy for taking him home. Gregory is clearly expressing his gratitude to Joe for saving his life.
